Morning Commentary
Even though the Producer Price Index (PPI) came in hotter than expected last week, conventional wisdom now sees three rate cuts. This means names avoided because of the maturity wall or industries held back from higher rates are seeing buyers dive in droves. Materials (XLB), Real Estate (XLRE), and Utilities (XLU) had one heck of a week.
But the biggest reset theme is the move into the small-cap, which has been rude for a few years.
The World Turns Up
International Indices also received a big-time bid on improved hypes. The long-awaited rotation in international markets, especially emerging markets, has also begun.

If the market rallies until it reaches the furthest point of ‘extreme greed,’ then this leg is only the start.
The Assassination Attempt
The assassination attempt on former President Trump was shocking — but not surprising.
Axios posted the headline and story about a sort of ‘we are all to blame’ article that concludes there will be more violence. I don’t think there has to be more violence. However, I believe the mainstream media should get the lion's share of the blame if there is. The deliberate misinformation and character assassinations over the past decade have stoked this fire more than anything else.
A Divided House Cannot Stand.
This is a very interesting poll on how united or divided the country is now.

Today’s Session
Earnings ramp up this week and then go through the roof the following weeks.
Last week, the market was abuzz with the possibility of the Fed making imminent and potentially aggressive cuts. This week, the focus shifts to the 'Trump Trade ', a term that carries different interpretations for various market observers.
However, the key to the rally will be earnings results and guidance because so much of the 2024 rally is based on the assumption of higher earnings as the year progresses.

I cannot believe what has happened to our country! It has gotten worse the last few years. I blame the so called news from most networks, spoiled children who have been led astray by their teachers. Over the week end I read some of the things 'influencers' have said. It is a shame young people are so filled with hate. We need to get back to our roots and bring God back like our Founding Fathers intended for this country. Anita on 7/15/2024 10:06:26 AM |
America is very divided. The starkest division is between those who espouse equal equity vs those who espouse equal opportunity. Equal equity leads to identity politics, victims vs oppressors, and viewing the economy as a zero sum competition. Equal opportunity fosters economic growth that grows the 'pie' in an efficient manner including the equal opportunity to fail...a self correcting feature that equal equity doesn't have. We will stay divided as long as the left wants full control and movement toward radicalism and socialism at any cost. Since their record is dismal, they will continue to depend on lies and unfounded accusations Larry Minter on 7/15/2024 11:56:36 AM |
Encompassing moral, spiritual, political and ethical issues, the most dangerous threat to America and the entire world is those who think whoever disagrees with them must be killed. Patricia Flynn on 7/15/2024 6:21:14 PM |
I think the media is telling us we are more divided than we actually are. I have traveled to different areas of the country where I have had conversations (not political) with people and we can always find some common ground. I have family members who are very politically opposite of myself and others, we have managed civility by understanding our differences and respecting them. Margaritt Kapaun on 7/16/2024 2:54:27 PM |
You must recognize - not many Americans who vote watched the Republican convention this week, yes loyal republicans did so until we can see what the Democratic Party nominates for their leader. 52% to 48% for the Republicans. As important - who is allowed to vote - we are already seeing non-citizens will be voting in several districts Howard Crawford on 7/19/2024 2:13:03 PM |
