Watching for Big Tech Earnings

Technology (XLK) stocks are moving lower again today after a decent bounce yesterday. The good news is that other market parts are finding buyers, including Communication Services (XLC).

Interestingly, the Energy (XLE) part of the AI story continues to recover.

It's not just the lingering DeepSeek-R1 situation weighing nervous investors, but what will happen with three of the Mag Seven companies that report after the close.

Let’s begin with Meta Platforms (META). The stock has acted well since the DeepSeek-R1 saga officially began. Meta Platforms (META) could save some of the $65 billion it just announced this year they would spend on a giant data center.

Either way, Meta Platforms (META) looks to be in a very comfortable position.

It has the best recent earnings reaction track record, the best-looking chart, and estimates have been edging higher.

Based on recent trends, Microsoft (MSFT) seems to be the most challenged. This also limits expectations, which are always favorable.

Tesla (TSLA) is one of those companies that reacts directly to earnings results and that hasn’t been good news for shareholders. Still, the robust product pipeline and Musk’s connection to the White House are strong positive wildcards.
