A Year for The Ages

Don’t look now, but for all the handwriting about the current stock market rally coming into 2024, this has been a year for the ages. From concentration risk, to pending recession, to sky high valuation and the never-ending Fed guessing game.

We are all familiar with the term “green on the screen”, which usually is used to discuss a strong day where just about everything is higher.

How about green on the screen for the entire year, with November being the exclamation point.

Equity Indices

Across every factor

And within the S&P 500, every sector outperformed, apart from Health Care (XLV) which only made it by a whisker.

This morning, Manufacturing PMI came in better than expected, although still in contraction. There were noticeable improvements including new orders climbing to expansion and prices declining considerably.

This is the kind of market where you want to max out your gains and keep your head on straight.
