Nasdaq Leads

Today, most of the major indicies are in the green with the exception of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Nasdaq Composite hit a new record intraday high today. This comes as the Street gets ready for quarterly results from some Magnificent 7 companies next week.

Four out of eleven sectors are in the green today with Technology (XLK) the clear leader, up 1.36% driven by Western Digital (WDC) favorable first quarter results. The two largest laggers are Financials (XLF), down 0.84%, and Utilities (XLU), down 0.72%.

Stellar results from Western Digital (WDC) are giving a boost to the sector. Earlier this week, Lam Research (LRCX) also reported solid first quarter results.

The ten-year treasury yield (TNX) is moving higher today and continues to confuse the market.

We are heading into Halloween week, but the market still is not afraid. The index is still in the Greed zone as investors still are eyeing the treats.

On the economic front, the final reading for Consumer Sentiment rose 70.5 beating consensus of 68.9, reaching a six-month high.

Looking forward to more profit reports! Especially companies that support infrastructure and the raw materials such as copper, steel and chemicals.
