Afternoon Note

Trump Trade Bonanza

Today all major indices are rallying after the Trump victory last night, but the Russell 2000 stands out ahead of the rest, up 4.81%.

The Ten-Year Treasury Yield (TNX) is surging, up 15.2 basis points (BPS), as investors flock to stocks.

The flock to stocks can also be seen with the 2.74% decline in Gold.

Meanwhile, solar stocks are getting hit hard, as can be seen with the Invesco Solar ETF (TAN).

Bitcoin (BTC) is rallying, with the crypto currency moving up 6.5%.

Seven of eleven sectors are in the green, with Financials (XLF) taking the lead, up 5.57%. Energy (XLE) and Industrials (XLI) are neck and neck for second place and stand to benefit greatly from a Trump administration. Real Estate (XLRE) is the biggest laggard and led lower by Iron Mountain Incorporated (IRM), which reported disappointing earnings.

The Fear & Greed Index swung all the way from Fear to Greed.

We are surprised there isn’t more chatter about the Fed decision tomorrow. So far, Fed Fund Futures still sees a 98% chance for a 25-bps cut tomorrow.
