INFLATED INFLATION FEARS

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst
2/10/2025 9:54 AM

It was a brutal session as the market limped into the weekend.

There was nowhere to hide.

Rally Intact

The rally is still intact as the S&P 500 (SPX) closed above its 50-day moving average, but the rate of change (ROC) is rapidly turning lower.

Sentiment Stumbles

Consumer Sentiment declined across economic and social segments as talk of tariffs and non-stop fearmongering began to take a toll.

The sentiment is down in back-to-back months; sentiment is back to July 2024 levels, and personal financial expectations is at its lowest point since October 2023.

Inflation concerns spiked during Trump’s first term. There is no doubt this is overkill.

This week, we will see a lot of inflation data and hear from Fed Powell tomorrow.

Today’s Session

Lots of earnings this week that could set the pace of the market more than inflation data.  There are already big moves higher (green).

There should be several non-government D.O.G.E. teams at work all the time (permanently) to find and stop fraud and waste in our government. This should not be a one-time thing.

Weston on 2/10/2025 10:08:34 AM
Get it all out! Elected officials forget it's money taken from taxpayers. Seems like the "great reset" might be focused on government spending!

Jeff Fisher on 2/10/2025 10:08:36 AM
VERY Aggressively

Robert Aubry on 2/10/2025 10:12:44 AM
Long overdue ! The cries of anguish from the bureaucrats is like the whining of children whose candy has been taken away. Unleash the D.O.G.s !

Brian on 2/10/2025 10:25:51 AM
DOGE should be allowed to review all spending and target excessive spending and corruption

David Deiwert on 2/10/2025 10:35:09 AM
All the way to thee mat!

Charles Haselberger on 2/10/2025 10:35:20 AM
They need to do the full investigation like it was promised through out the campaign. There are too many dollars being wasted...

Carlos Santos on 2/10/2025 10:37:08 AM
Elon needs to put down the hammer...and fire up a chainsaw.

Bill Frohberg on 2/10/2025 10:41:47 AM
Dig, Dig, Dig!!!!!
Americans voted for this!!!

P.S. Love your commentaries and your books!

John Terbu on 2/10/2025 10:43:33 AM
Bring it on! It's long overdue. It can't be too aggressive. Plus, it reveals the democrats priorities which are often not aligned with us, the American taxpayer, which should be the litmus test for all spending.

Ric Walter on 2/10/2025 10:54:42 AM
Drain The Swamp!!!

J.L.P on 2/10/2025 11:20:29 AM
MAX effort for DOGE!

FRITZ E PIEPER on 2/10/2025 11:25:42 AM
The goal must be to root out all waste, fraud, and abuse - the more noise and hate and discontent generated means progress. This must not be a one-time effort but maintained.

Gary on 2/10/2025 11:28:21 AM
Re; DOGE
I think President Trump should direct Elon to be as aggressive as possible provided there are no national security or personal privacy breaches. Anyone with access to this information needs appropriate level of security clearance and, as necessary, be deputized by the appropriate agency with jurisdiction over the department of interest. Lower courts should not be allowed to intervene except to determine if a case is legitimate for review at the Supreme Court.

DOGE’s mandate is an Executive level action, so legitimate legal cases should be fast-tracked to the equivalent level of the third branch of government (the Supreme Court). Think Peer-to-Peer action-judgement-action.

Chris M. on 2/10/2025 11:45:03 AM
DRAIN THE SWAMP...NOW OR NEVER ... WE VOTED FOR TRUMP TO DO EXACTLY WHAT HE IS DOING.

MICHAEL Edward TAMMARO on 2/10/2025 12:53:38 PM
Bring it full circle, let's end free money to others until we help needed Americans first!

Dave on 2/10/2025 2:17:43 PM
As aggressively as possible.

Barry on 2/10/2025 2:18:11 PM

Warren Peterson on 2/10/2025 5:37:47 PM
Our government is blotted with wasteful spending and abuse and with our soaring national debt, it is curb spending or see our great country crumble. Do not put me on any mailing list.

Samuel Gorman on 2/10/2025 8:40:43 PM
I would like to see as much waste, duplicity and inefficiency removed from Government as possible. I want our government to be run like a business in terms of financially responsible spending, financial accountability, employing qualified personnel, strategic forward looking investments and annual balanced budgets.

Clarke Quinn on 2/11/2025 11:08:20 AM
Absolutely!! Go with intense aggressive action!!
The SWAMP IS literally shaking in there boots at there total criminal corruption being exposed to the light of day!!! Amen!!!

Stevens E Woodburn on 2/12/2025 3:04:52 PM
Dig! Dig! Dig! This is why the American people elected DJT.

Joe Flores on 2/12/2025 4:28:27 PM
As aggressive as possible! We have one chance to get this country back on track and this is it. Leave no stone unturned.

Matt on 2/13/2025 8:47:48 AM
Every dime!

Robert Furtney on 2/13/2025 11:36:40 AM
Politicians seem to have forgotten it is not THEIR money. It's OUR money they are spending. Root out EVERY expense that does not benefit the support of our country and its citizens. Don't back off until all the waste and corruption is exposed and eliminated!

Jeff Piedimonte on 2/15/2025 8:46:35 PM
Even though the US voter has long wanted this, this is the first time in US history the President has been serious about reducing / eliminating government waste. And, for the first time in US history we have a genius level outsider (who has everything to lose and nothing to personally gain) volunteering to lead the effort. This is true patriotism and citizenry. The more the left doth protest, the harder we should look in their direction. They are frenzied to protect themselves from being outed.

Darren Bordeaux on 2/16/2025 12:06:48 PM
DOGE needs to be as aggressive as possible. The abuse of taxpayer dollars is obscene. In my opinion, they are doing a fantastic job.

Leslie Whiston on 2/18/2025 9:00:38 AM
I would like to see spending 2 trillion lower.

Sarah on 2/18/2025 2:31:23 PM
Find it all, document it all, stop funding all senseless initiatives and organisations, prosecute anyone who broke the law. No more back room deals. Take note of those that complain the loudest as they were likely benefitting either directly or indirectly

David Wood on 2/18/2025 4:52:58 PM
This is our only chance to clear out the corruption, don't stop until the abusers are in jail. The best thing our government has ever done.

Don Patrick on 2/19/2025 8:07:08 AM
Very aggressively! This is long overdue and lazy legislators need to learn the downside of handing so much authority to agencies.

Peter McDougall on 2/19/2025 5:01:21 PM
Full speed ahead DOGE!

John on 2/20/2025 8:37:38 AM
I believe they should investigate everything, we should know where are tax dollars are going. Its not right that when these bills are prepared they are books and all these hidden agendas are buried in there it is not their money it is the peoples money and should be spent to support Gov not agendas
