The Dividend Report - December 2024

12/2/2024
By Charles Payne CEO & Principal Analyst

Are Dividends Still Important?

The S&P 500 is hot, but other parts of the U.S. stock market are even hotter. There is a tremendous thirst for instant gratification. In this environment, even conservative fund managers must play the game, which means ditching their rules book and jumping on the hit money bandwagon.

The same is true for individual investors.

Against this backdrop, certain assets must be begging for attention.

In addition to the mix, corporations are focusing more and more on buybacks rather than increasing dividends. In general, this has had a material impact on dividend yields which have declined steadily since Black Friday 1929.

However, dividends remain a critical component of overall market gains.
