To say last week was a whirlwind for financial markets would be an understatement.  I’ll cover the action in this report, but everyone asks whether the clouds are moving out and the sun is returning.

It’s a tricky question because it could go either way, depending on how key players react and if investors overreact. This week, we see many economic releases that should give us a better insight.

The stock market made an important statement about its direction and its ability to rebound during periods of massive confusion and surging panic.

Record Spike of Fear

The 42-point move in the Volatility Index (VIX), aka the fear gauge, last Monday shattered the record and underscored how quickly things can change in a market that is driven (short term) more by emotions than fundamentals.
