The first half is in the books, and this year, more than any I've seen in the 38 years I’ve worked on Wall Street, the details and timeline must be thoroughly explored. First, the “facts.”

The 31 record-high closes are the second most this century (24 years).

Last week, more names were trading above their 200-day moving average, but the number is substantially below the levels at the start of the year. Moreover, this year, 23% of the sessions saw a price increase on negative breadth.
