Gap Forecasts Annual Profit That Exceeds Analysts’ Estimates

Gap Inc., operator of the Banana Republic clothing chain, forecast an annual profit above analysts’ estimates and said fourth-quarter net income gained as sales rebounded at Old Navy.

“They put their money where their mouth is,” Brian Sozzi, an analyst with Wall Street Strategies Inc. in New York, said before results were released. “There was a shift in strategy going into the fourth quarter where they returned to the airwaves in marketing their product. They want to go back after sales.”
