Keep Your Party Close

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst

Despite huge earnings misses and woeful guidance from brick and mortar retailers, the market came out the gate with more determination than expected, and there was a brief period when all the major indices traded higher.   Then the EIA petroleum report was released revealing the largest build in gasoline inventories in more than a year.

I have to say that crude oil didn’t panic immediately after the release, and it still not recoiling to the same degree as stocks.  Even the NASDAQ, which should be largely immune to crude oil fluctuations, is getting hit.

I actually think the cyber hearing on Capitol Hill is having a greater impact on stocks at the moment than oil and brick and mortar woes.   There is the obvious political jockeying, including efforts to delegitimize Donald Trump’s victory.  But it’s the in-your-face lambasting of Trump by folks in his own party that I think is softening the market.

Senator Lindsey Graham took the opportunity to “throw rocks” suggesting Trump better lean heavy on the US Intelligence community before taking action against bad actors like North Korea.

There is also the realization that reversing eight years of deliberate dismantling of American economic might can’t be done overnight.  That being said, I think the 2017 Rally will get its mo-jo from government milestones such as passage of smart legislation, removal of economic barriers and signs Main Street enthusiasm is morphing into reality.

I’m not going to force the issue at the moment.

Possessing all the sailing skills does not necessarily make for a competent ship's captain.
During times of international hostilities,
a captain also needs to know if it is wise to sail a certain rout based on the flag their ship flies, where they are headed to, and what other countries might not want them to pass through those waters.
Politics and religion are also necessary skills.
President Obama permitted Russia, China, Iran, and radical Islam to expand to new territories.
He has not been a competent captain.
It appears as though the world will become a much safer place & our portfolios will grow much faster under President Trump.

Our portfolios have suffered by both his international & domestic policies,
but more importantly, millions of innocent people have died because of his well meaning, be nice to them and they will be nice to everyone, policies.
Communists & Islamists don't think in a civilized manner like conservative realists.

According to my mouse pad, there are 18 US intelligence agencies.

Anyway, the most secretive is probably NSA. HOWEVER, if you join the National Cryptologic Museum Foundation, you will be invited to the quarterly seminars and to the bienniel two day blowout. The Museum is excellent and they are going to enlarge it.

Worth checking out.

ALSO if you check the archives of the New York Post, they beat up the Russians for their NYC activities ... The Russians built a "consulate" in northern Manhattan which was a high rise with electronics that vacuumed up all the microwaves coming off the horns in the top of the Empire State Building. They also had an annex on Long Island which did SIGINT on the Grumman factory out there, which made the Navy's radar planes. Grumman ended up moving to Florida.

So, there is a LONG history of Russian and other foreign SIGINT activity in Manhattan.

About ten years ago, I was on a circle line cruise and we docked on the West Side and I just happened to notice that there was a warehouse building with a huge satellite dish farm on the roof. The building had a tiny teeny brass plaque ... "Peoples Republic of China".

So ya gotta wonder how many other foreign espionage operations are going on.

I know nothing. That's my position and I'm sticking to it.

[But you should ask or ask Mr. Trump to ask.]

Best regards,

Al

After all the politicizing of the intelligence community, I think Trump is very wise to wait until he gets into office before he starts to take any of them seriously. This is a good place to start draining the swamp.

I think everyone is antisapating the optimistic attitude Trump lives by. After 8 years of PO's "tail between his legs... apologizing for the good America has done in the world... you didn't build that attitude" Trump, for those who actually listen to what he is saying, is like the little engine that said "I think I can, I think I can."

face it - eight years of protecting their turf and power and ignoring the pleas of the very people that sent them to DC in the first place. I said once before the GOP could be Trump's biggest hurdle in Washington. CP

The last time I checked the sat photos, the ChiCom SIGINT facility by Circle Line pier was GONE. Bulldozed. But you can check the older Zillow photos for it. They probably moved a couple of blocks away.

Do you get a eyespy subscription? British. They blab everything. Mailbox at the Empire State Building. wwwdoteyespymagdot com.

By the way, a Russian named Theremin invented a wierd electronic musical instrument. Did the woew-thing.

He also designed the bug that was in the shield in the U.S. Ambassador's office in Moscow. A replica is at the NSA museum.

He also visited the USA in 1927 and headed the USSR's electronic espionage operation.

Fun stuff.

Do you know Chris Inglis?

He WAS deputy director at NSA but moved to USNA at Annapolis after his term expired.

Might be a helpful guest.
