Hot Topic Same-Store Sales Down In Feb; Zumiez Rises

Hot Topic Inc. (HOTT) posted a less-than-feared decline in February same-store sales as Zumiez Inc. (ZUMZ) double-digit growth smashed expectations.

Following Hot Topic results, Brian Sozzi, an analyst at Wall Street Strategies, said the company results were a welcome sign following months of disappointment, as the retailer benefited from strong results at Torrid and products tied to Tim Burton upcoming movie "Alice in Wonderland."

But Sozzi said the company omission of fiscal first-quarter guidance, despite its better-than-expected performance, was "temporarily worrisome."
